ELLEN (CONT'D) Hey, Bob. (kisses his cheek) How's the fudge biz? Bob laughs nervously. BOB Um..yeah. The shops been hopping. You should stop by sometime. ELLEN Sweetheart, I just gained five pounds by saying the word "fudge". I can't eat that sh.. Bob extends hand with the box of chocolates. Ellen forces a pleased look. She takes them as Randi walks in. ELLEN (CONT'D) Oh! Chocolates. That's swee...swell. Bob giggles. Randi giggles at Bob giggling. ELLEN (CONT'D) What? BOB ~Good save. He smiles at Randi, who smiles back. ELLEN Huh? (Pause.) Uh, Bob, you remember Randi, don't you? My old college roommate? From the wedding? RANDI (Extends hand to shake.) Hi Bob. It's nice to see you again. BOB Sure. Sure. Hi. (He studies Randi for a moment.) You've done something with your hair. It looks nice. RANDI (bashfully) Oh, not really. But thank you. Karl walks up with a drink for Bob, and a refresher for Randi. KARL Here you go. BOB Thanks. ELLEN It's the new color Cookie's using. It's called "chocolate mousse". (Karl looks at Ellen, surprised) Get it? Mousse. As in hair mousse? And chocolate? (speaking to Randi, pointing to Bob's shirt) He owns a chocolate shop. BOB (smiling politely) Sure do. That's clever, Ellen. (They all force a laughs) ELLEN Go in and make yourself comfortable. (looks around) Dinner is almost ready. Can I get you anything? Randi starts to go to kitchen. BOB Crackpipe, if you got one. (laughs) Kidding! My beer is fine. ELLEN (looking at Bob with a forced smile.) You kook, you! ~Randi and I, we're just finishing. Dinner. It shouldn't be long. Go and relax. Bob exits to the living room. The two women then walk into the kitchen. RANDI (Whisper) You are so weird! ELLEN I'm going to need my morphine drip. CUT TO: INT. DINING ROOM -- LATER A close up of a hand with fork on a plate. The camera pulls back to Ellen, Randi, Karl and Bob at the dining room table. They are finishing the meal. RANDI (to Karl) Can you believe how quickly your firm has taken off? KARL I'm hoping for a normal life soon. This case ends Friday so we'll have a free weekend for a change. ELLEN I'll believe it when I fucking see it. RANDI Ellen! ELLEN (flatly) Get the goddamn soap and wash out my mouth. (looks at wine glass) This'll do. (empties the glass) Ellen starts clearing the table through the next dialogue. KARL (to Randi) Where did she learn that vocabulary? BOB (to Ellen) Was your mother a sailor. ELLEN Momma's no sailor. She's a saint. Or so she reminds me every Sunday.
