Ellen jumps up and grabs Randi. They start dancing. They reach for Edward. He shakes his head, smiling, as if too drunk to stand. Ellen and Randi go back to dance in a silly, improvised jitter bug. Edward watches his old friends dance. He has a bitter sweet look. CUT TO: EXT. EDWARD'S CAR -- AFTERNOON An open trunk of a car. The trunk lid comes down and we see Edward finish packing his car. We then see Randi and Ellen standing behind him. He turns around and looks at the two of them. They both have warm smiles on their faces. He walks towards them. ELLEN You're right about one thing. EDWARD What? ELLEN (looking at his ass.) Your ass is as flat as Nebraska. The three laugh uncomfortably. EDWARD I feel like John Boy leaving Walton's Mountain for the first time. ELLEN Never saw it. RANDI Don't make me cry again, Eddie. ELLEN Please don't! I'm still damp from last night. RANDI (giggles) That sounds dirty! Edward laughs. He throws his arms around the two and hugs them both. EDWARD Now I can finally have some peace and quiet without my mama hens. RANDI (Teary eyed and laughing) Shut the fuck up, Eddie. EDWARD You stop hanging around Ellen so much, Cookie. She's a piss-poor role model for you. Edward hugs them then quickly gets into the car. The two women look at him oddly. EDWARD (Smiles brightly at the two) I'll call you from the road. (Pause) We're still on for Thanksgiving, right? ELLEN You betcha. ~Oh, and Ed? EDWARD Yeah? Ellen walks towards him and grabs his face and looks into his eyes with deep sincerity ELLEN Fucking lighten up. Will you, baby? (Edward laughs.) EDWARD What? ELLEN You know what I mean. RANDI And drive careful. Call if you need anything, OK? You're in our prayers! ELLEN I don't pray, Randi. Edward laughs, shaking his head. He quickly gets into the car and drives off. He waves. The two women continue to watch as the car drives away.
