SYNOPSIS: MISS MACINERNIE'S ACQUAINTANCES
Miss MacInernie's Acquaintances is a snappy, fast paced one act
that brings the character of VERL, a down on his luck guy who is
interviewing for yet another job. But Verl has a problem. It's his
"friend" Miss MacInernie and her acquaintances that keep tripping
up Verl to move forward to achieve a happy life.
Verl speaks to the audience about his past experiences not only
about his personal and professional life, but also in dealing with
Miss MacInernie's acquaintances of ELINORE, HOLLY and BIG BOB.
Each of these characters, played either by one actress or multiple
actresses's, represents a part of Verl's personality. Holly, the
playful oversexed kitten, Elinore, the brash and aggressive
lesbian who represents Verl's aggressive side and Big Bob, who
represents Verl's self loathing and feeds upon his doubts. The
character of Miss MacInernie represents Verl's maternal nature, or
that of his inner mother/cheerleader.
As Verl keeps getting interrupted during his interview for a new
job, each of the characters present themselves. Verl dodges the
attempts of these characters while being interviewed. He then
finds that he is able to trust himself and not have to rely on
these characters of his mind and finds an inner strength to let go
and believe in himself that he does have the ability to have a
happy, normal life.
