HANDSOME MEN: SYNOPSIS

Handsome Men is a comically, character driven play that forces four very different generations of gay men to discuss and reminisce the previous decades of the gay movement in America. Ranging from the end of World War II to the present day.

Handsome Men stretches from the underground speak easy of the 1940’s and the threat of arrest to the present day happening of the circuit party scene. The four men deal with the changes that have been greatly made in the gay community but also with issues that still remain the same for today.

HORACE, a year old gentleman of British decent with a wise and kind heart, ANDY, a uptight thirty something lawyer and a ex-Catholic, PETE, a bitter early 50 something ex-Marine and divorcee and KIEL, a free-spirited twentyish college club kid. They represent the four generations of men, however, the men have only one thing in common, and that they have been arrested for public sex acts and are forced to community service together. As the first day wears on as they work on fixing up a run down house in a tough neighborhood, these men open up their hearts and feelings about what being a gay man means to them, ending with surprising results.
