Biography of Mike Dempsey
Mike was last seen as PETER DOMBROWSKI in the LA production of his play, HANDSOME MEN, at the St. Genesius Theatre, and in the same role for the San Diego production at The Diversionary Theatre. His latest play, MISS MACINERNIE’S ACQUAINTANCES, was produced this past fall at 6th @ Penn Theatre in San Diego and will be having it’s LA premiere this coming September at The Gardner Stages. Mike’s first play, VERSIONS OF LUST & DISGUST, has been produced three times--the 6th @ Penn Theatre in San Diego, the St. Genesius Theatre and The Gardner Stages, both in Los Angeles. A musical of VERSIONS OF LUST & DISGUST is currently in an adaptation workshop in San Diego.
A native of Chicago, Mike has performed in many Windy City theatrical productions. He has performed under such respected theatre directors as Tony-nominated Robert Falls in his production of HAMLET, and off-broadway director Kyle Donnelly in her productions of the Joseph Jefferson-winning THE RAINMAKER and the critically acclaimed THE REIMERS OF ELDRIDGE.
In addition to acting, Mike has directed several productions, ranging from THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR to the critically acclaimed improv show, UNCLEAN THOUGHTS in Chicago. San Diego directing credits include THE MOST MASSIVE WOMAN WINS and LUSTING AFTER PIPINO’S WIFE for Backyard Productions and THE FAG AND THE PORN STAR at 6th @ Penn Studio.
With his screen writing partner, Neal Davis, they have penned two original screenplays, FROM OPPOSITE ENDS and STRAIGHT FLUSH.
